“Who’s #1?”
Matthew 10:34-42
Jesus calls upon his disciples to love him above all others.
His coming will cause dissension in their families because disciples will love him even more than their immediate family.
He calls us to “take up your cross”. The Christian life will be challenging, but you will only find real life if you lay down your earthly life for Him.
1) Jesus sword (v.34). He fights for righteousness and truth and demands we choose sides in the battle.
2) Family dissension will come. (v.35-37) Again, we must decide. Who’s “Number One” in your life?
3) Take up your cross. (v.39-42) Another Biblical paradox, that we can only find eternal life by laying down our earthly persuits.
