Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 tells the Parable of the Weeds
Weeds are a reality of life. We see them in our yards and gardens. We have chemicals and tools to deal with them.
In the parable, Jesus speaks of the weeds in the Kingdom of God…people who are weeds. How do we deal with them?
Jesus says, “Wait! Don’t pull them out or you’ll damage the good crop.”
A bigger question for us is, “who are the weeds among us? And what do we do about them?”
The Bible reminds us that we are all weeds. (Romans 3:23) “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
God knows the difference between weeds and wheat…he’ll separate them and the weeds will be cast into the fire. (God’s Justice)
But God loves us, even though we’re weeds, so he provides a way to transform us weeds into a holy crop…Jesus. (God’s Love)
In the end, God will separate the weeds from the wheat. (JUSTICE)
He wants us to live with him eternally in heaven. (LOVE)
He sent His son, Jesus, to forgive and redeem us. (LOVE)
He provides an environment for us to grow…the church. (LOVE)
He provides strength…the Holy Spirit…that transforms us step-by-step into the likeness of Christ. (LOVE)
If we can see His kingdom from His point of view, we’ll be patient in dealing with the weeds among us. Maybe we can’t fix them, but we can be patient and wait for Him to work on them. Weeds can be turned into wheat!
